Jazz Workshop

Several times during the year, the VCM Jazz Studies Program teams up with the Victoria Jazz Society to host clinics, workshops and master classes with visiting concert artists and local professionals. Admission to these events is often free and gives students an opportunity to learn from legendary figures in the world of Jazz.
 

Percussion
Course Format: Classroom
Individual lessons for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students are available in percussion instruments including timpani, marimba, and drum set. Students study standard performance techniques, sight reading skills, basic theory, and improvisation. Students are encouraged to experiment with building their own instruments.
 

Baroque Flute

Advanced recorder studies focus on songs, dances, and suites of the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods, ornamentation, and performance practice. Students are introduced to duets, trios, continuo and consorts.

An opportunity for advanced students and professional singers to explore all aspects of their performance. Using a Master Class format we will work with technique, style, interpretation, body work and presence to create powerful performances and empowered performers. 2-21/2 hours per week with optional extra coaching times available.
